Who remains in contention to take on Jonbon in Saturday's Betfair Tingle Creek Chase?
Jonbon could face seven rivals as he bids to join an illustrious list of multiple Betfair Tingle Creek Chase (3.00) winners after he stood his ground for the Sandown showpiece on Saturday.
The Nicky Henderson-trained star was a two-and-three-quarter length victor a year ago and is the red-hot favourite to emulate chasing greats Kauto Star and Moscow Flyer with back-to-back successes in the Grade 1. He will also aim to maintain his perfect record at the Esher track, where he has yet to be defeated in four starts.
His familiar foes Boothill and Edwardstone, the 2022 Tingle Creek hero, also remain in the race at the five-day confirmations stage. The pair finished second and third behind Jonbon in the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham last month.
Jonbon could face a new rival in the Henry de Bromhead-trained Quilixios. The 2021 Triumph Hurdle winner notched his biggest win over fences when easily beating Marine Nationale in a Naas Grade 3 last month and could bid to give the trainer his second Tingle Creek success.
The other Irish-trained runner could be Solness for Joseph O'Brien, while Haldon Gold Cup winner JPR One, Master Chewy and Unexpected Party complete those still in contention. Fortria Chase winner Found A Fifty and the Paul Nicholls-trained Sans Bruit were the absentees.
In the card's other Grade 1, the Betfair Henry VIII Novices' Chase (1.50), a field of six remain in contention including L'Eau Du Sud.
The Dan Skelton-trained six-year-old was an emphatic winner of the Arkle Trial at Cheltenham's November meeting and his rivals could include Elite Hurdle winner Rubaud and the Gordon Elliott-trained Down Memory Lane.
At Aintree, 17 remain in contention for the BoyleSports Becher Handicap Chase (2.07), including King Turgeon in his bid for a famous Grand National fences double.
The David Pipe-trained six-year-old landed the Grand Sefton at the track last month and the Devon trainer has landed the Becher twice in the last ten years with the popular Vieux Lion Rouge. His rivals could include this year's Ultima scorer Chianti Classico and last year's winner Chambard.
Also on the card, JCB Triumph Hurdle favourite East India Dock has been given an entry in the 2m1f Listed juvenile hurdle (2.42) by James Owen.
