'This year's Gold Cup is a race full of good horses - just not horses from Britain' says 'famous five' trainer Michael Dickinson

Cheltenham Gold Cup history-maker Michael Dickinson has described a record low five British entries in the festival showpiece as “disappointing” but does not feel the race lacks quality.

Grey Dawning, at 25-1 with Betfair Sportsbook and Paddy Power, and L'Homme Presse, 33-1 with Coral, are the shortest-priced British entries in a market dominated by the hat-trick-seeking evens favourite Galopin Des Champs.

There were 24 British-trained entries in the Cheltenham Festival’s main race four years ago, while there were 11 hopefuls for the home team at the same first entry stage last year.
