Sam Thomas has three shots at 'mega' Welsh Grand National success but main contender to miss key prep run
Sam Thomas will lead the home challenge in the the Coral Welsh Grand National with three runners on December 27, although his leading contender Jubilee Express will miss a prep run this weekend.
The Glamorgan trainer has Jubilee Express entered in the race's registered trial at Chepstow on Saturday as well as a staying handicap chase at Exeter on Friday but the lightly raced seven-year-old is not quite right heading into the weekend. The winner of the last of his four chases at Haydock in March, Jubilee Express is a 14-1 chance for his festive target.
Stablemate and 2021 winner Iwilldoit could look to boost his chances in Saturday's Betfair Exchange London National at Sandown, while Good Risk At All will run in Chepstow's trial this weekend. It will be his first start since disappointing when odds-on favourite in a handicap chase on Welsh National day last season.
