Ruby Walsh: Boum not bust yet and has every chance of emulating Kauto Star
Ruby Walsh, who made history on Kauto Star in the 2009 Cheltenham Gold Cup when he became the first horse to regain the coveted crown, thinks Al Boum Photo has every chance of becoming the second.
A total of 30 horses have been entered in the Gold Cup on March 18 and among the 16 Irish-trained representatives is the 2019 and 2020 winner, who would be the first ten-year-old to win the race since Cool Dawn in 1998 if he did regain his title.
Walsh said Al Boum Photo, who is as short as 7-1, would not have been his idea of the 2022 Gold Cup winner before Christmas but now thinks he could have the tools to chisel out another famous victory.
