Punters cash in at Huntingdon on Sunday as Placepot dividend pays more than £32,000
A small handful of punters cashed in big at Huntingdon on Sunday when the Tote Placepot paid out nearly £33,000 for a £1 stake.
Only 1.71 units triumphed as a result of an unpredictable jumps card to take a share of the total fund of £56,298 for the afternoon meeting, with a dividend of £32,992.
A total of 31,000 units got through the opening leg thanks to the runner-up finish of favourite Finn Lough, but the novice handicap chase, won by 25-1 shot Just Loose Change, would prove to be the first of several big-priced winners.
The pool was cut down drastically in the second leg when 200-1 Kally Des Bruyeres triumphed and 12-1 shot Korus and 33-1 shot El Rayo filled the places in the 2m maiden hurdle. The Gray Ghost, a hot favourite at 6-5, finished last to leave 601.35 units in play.
Only one favourite triumphed across the seven-race card, with the mares' novice hurdle won by Ebselysees at 18-1 and No Risk With Lou scoring in the 2m½f handicap chase at 7-2.
The final leg of the Placepot proved to be the decider, with the remaining 112.07 units reduced to just 1.71 following the 28-1 success of Braganza Bay, with Mackie Dee (50-1) and Den The Diva (12-1) finishing in the placings.
