Mark Boylan: Zanahiyr a live each-way contender at 14-1 for the Champion Hurdle
Irish raiders were responsible for 55 per cent of the entries revealed on Tuesday for the Champion Hurdle, Mares' Hurdle and Stayers' Hurdle, and the market for the first two of those Grade 1s boast a distinctively green look.
Honeysuckle is clearly the one to beat in the Unibet Champion Hurdle and her biggest danger to making it three festival wins in succession could be fellow raider Appreciate It, although we haven't seen him since he blitzed the Supreme Novices' Hurdle field last March.
All told, Irish-trained runners could fill seven of the top eight slots in the market for the day one feature. There is definite depth to the ranks, including through Zanahiyr, who looks a live each-way contender at 14-1 for the Champion Hurdle given his progressive profile this season, although Honeysuckle will be hard to beat.
