Kinross is set to run in Doncaster's Betfred Park Stakes on St Leger day and headline a huge day for owner Marc Chan in Britain and Ireland after missing Saturday's Sprint Cup.

The popular seven-year-old was not among the 16 horses declared for the Haydock Group 1, having also missed his hat-trick bid in the City of York Stakes at the Ebor meeting last month due to quick ground.

However, he is on course for the Doncaster Group 2 on September 14 and could be one of three runners for Chan on the day. The Hong Kong-based owner also has the Jessica Harrington-trained duo Green Impact and Bold Discovery, who look set to run on the Irish Champions Festival card at Leopardstown.

The two-year-old Green Impact is entered in the Group 2 KPMG Champions Juvenile Stakes – as well as the Group 1 Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes at the Curragh a day later – while four-year-old Bold Discovery is in the Group 2 Solonaway Stakes.

Chan's racing manager Jamie McCalmont said: "The plan is to run Kinross on Saturday week at Doncaster. It's a good step for him and it'll be a big day for Marc too, as we're hoping Green Impact and Bold Discovery can run at Leopardstown.

"We're hoping Marc can come over for it, but because Leopardstown is a World Pool day and given he lives in Hong Kong, he'll be able to share the big experience with his friends there too, which is great."

The Park Stakes was the second leg of a terrific four-timer for Kinross two years ago. Following his first City of York triumph, he went on to win the Prix de la Foret on Arc day and British Champions Sprint at Ascot after his Doncaster success.

Tilts at those two contests, in which Kinross finished runner-up last year, are not being ruled out either.

"Maybe that can happen again," McCalmont added. "He's in good form and Rossa [Ryan, rider] has been very positive about the horse recently.

"It was frustrating that we had to miss York, but he owes us nothing and we kept him wrapped in cotton wool as he does need to be minded a bit more because of his age."
