Jason Watson hoping Charlie Hills link can pay early dividends on opening day of season at Doncaster
Former champion apprentice Jason Watson is hoping the support of Andrew Balding and Charlie Hills can bring him plenty of success in Britain this year as the Flat turf season springs into life at Doncaster on Saturday.
Watson spent much of last year riding in the north but he has been building his connections closer to his home in Newbury this winter, regularly riding out for both Balding and Hills.
The 24-year-old was crowned champion apprentice in 2018 when attached to Balding's powerful base at Kingsclere, while weekly visits to Hills's Lambourn yard could prove a productive development this season, with Iberian and Cicero's Gift among his potential rides for the Classic-winning trainer at Doncaster on Saturday.
