James Doyle to ride Royal Lodge hope for the Gredleys on same day long-absent Allmankind returns
James Doyle will ride for the Gredley family for the first time this season when partnering Wimbledon Hawkeye in the Group 2 Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.
The James Owen-trained juvenile has been ridden by Silvestre de Sousa on his last two starts, but the three-time champion jockey will miss the Cambridgeshire meeting as he starts a lengthy whip ban.
The Gredleys have turned to Wathnan’s retained rider, who memorably helped the owner-breeder’s Big Orange fend off the challenge of Order Of St George in the 2017 Gold Cup.
