Clifford Lee facing 'hardest decision' of his career as he has choice of two top Sprint Cup contenders
Clifford Lee, who has the biggest decision of his career to make before Saturday's Betfair Sprint Cup, was on Monday swaying towards riding Elite Status in Haydock's Group 1 contest.
Bookmakers narrowly favour Elite Status over his stablemate Swingalong towards the head of the Sprint Cup betting but trainer Karl Burke is leaving it to his number one rider to decide who he partners on Saturday.
Lee and Swingalong have twice finished runners-up in Group 1s this season but the untapped potential of dual Group 3 winner Elite Status after just eight runs, coupled with the likelihood of ground with ease in it at Haydock, could prove decisive when he makes his decision at Thursday's declaration stage.
