Classic-winning filly Fallen Angel is the latest big-name addition to Wathnan Racing’s roster of stars.

The daughter of Too Darn Hot has not been seen since landing the Irish 1,000 Guineas in May when she won in the colours of Steve Parkin’s Clipper Logistics.

The three-year-old has been given a break by trainer Karl Burke but will run for the Emir of Qatar-backed Wathnan operation in next month’s Group 1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown.

Richard Brown, racing adviser to Wathnan, said, "It’s a great addition to the team. She’s a filly with a high level of ability and we’re excited to add her to the team.

“She's a tremendous athlete, already a dual Group 1 winner, and we're very excited to see what she can do in the months and seasons ahead.”

The form of Fallen Angel’s Classic victory has been boosted by Opera Singer, who she beat by four and three-quarter lengths, going on to land the Group 1 Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

Fallen Angel is unbeaten in Ireland, having won the Moyglare Stud Stakes on her final start as a juvenile, and is the 5-2 second favourite for the Moyglare behind 7-4 market leader Porta Fortuna.

On her chances of making it three from three at the highest level across the Irish sea, Brown added: "Karl seems very happy with the preparation and that would be the next plan.”

Fallen Angel disappointed when sent off the 100-30 favourite for the 1,000 Guineas on her seasonal debut, finishing eighth in the Newmarket Classic – the only race in her six starts where she has been outside of the first two.

Wathnan have already enjoyed success with a recruit from the British and Irish Classics this term with 2,000 Guineas third and Irish 2,000 Guineas runner-up Haatem, landing the Group 3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot on his first appearance in the blue and gold silks.
