Il Est Francais surges to head of King George market - but Emmet Mullins sounds Kempton ground warning for Corbetts Cross
Il Est Francais was promoted to favouritism with the sponsors for the Ladbrokes King George VI Chase as joint-trainer Noel George pinpointed the reason for his recent defeat and explained how conditions should be perfect for him at Kempton on Thursday.
George revealed a burst blood vessel had been found as the cause of a disappointing performance in the Prix la Haye Jousselin at Auteuil last month and said he was hopeful the forecast quicker ground and a return to Kempton would make Il Est Francais hard to beat.
Continued support for the French-trained star has prompted Labrokes to promote him to the head of the market at 7-2 to add to his Grade 1 novice success over the same course and distance at Kempton 12 months ago.
