'If they were all as enthusiastic as he was about life, we'd be fine' - Tom Ellis relishing new Aintree date with Latenightpass

Latenightpass: on target for Saturday's Grand Sefton over the Grand National fences

Latenightpass is reported to be in "mighty form" for his comeback run in Saturday's Boylesports Grand Sefton Handicap Chase at Aintree, with trainer Tom Ellis already eyeing up a tilt at the Cheltenham Festival in March. 

Ridden by the trainer's wife Gina Andrews, Latenightpass led until two fences from home in April's Grand National and Ellis cannot wait to see his stable star tackle the National fences again on Saturday over a shorter trip that he says should be "tailor-made" for the 11-year-old.

"He's won a Foxhunters' around there over the same trip [two miles and five furlongs] and I think he'll appreciate the slightly better ground on Saturday compared to what he had in the National," said Ellis. "He's a year older but he's in mighty form and if they were all as enthusiastic as he was about life, we'd be fine.
