'I could see her having a right old chance' - Quinns target Prix de la Foret for shock York winner Breege
John and Sean Quinn are set for a poignant return to Longchamp on Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe day next month with Breege.
It will be a year since their top-class sprinter Highfield Princess landed what turned out to be the final victory of her career in the Prix de l'Abbaye on the same card.
Breege, winner of the City of York Stakes last month, will tackle the Group 1 Prix de la Foret on October 6.
She has entries in Group 2 races at Doncaster and Leopardstown this Saturday but John Quinn, who has shared the training licence with his son since the start of the season, said: "She's a Group 3 winner and Group 2 winner and deserves to go for a Group 1. I could see her having a right old chance, she ran a blinder in the Marcel Boussac there a couple of years ago and we've been happy with her since York."
Breege was a 33-1 shot when winning at York but Quinn said: "If you picked the best of her form, she had a chance of being in the three and it was the best run of her life, in a good time. It wasn't a fluke, it was an upward curve."
Highfield Princess, who won four Group 1s and earned more than £1.8 million in prize-money, died in March as a result of an inoperable fracture to a hind leg.
Quinn was speaking as the field at their Highfield Stables was filling with cars carrying visitors to the Arena Racing Company Malton Open Day organised by Racing Welfare.
Another popular destination was Musley Bank, where Richard Fahey confirmed impressive Pontefract debut winner Powerful Glory on course for the Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury a week on Saturday.
"We think he's very good," said the trainer. "He'll have to be, but the form was franked when the Charlie Johnston horse who was third trotted up at Kempton the other day. He's very talented."
Fahey added: "If it went well, we'd probably leave him for the year. He has a good mind so he could stay. He could be a Guineas horse. His pedigree isn't an awful lot to look at, but he's got natural speed."
