'He's showing great signs at home' - in-form Johnny Burke gears up for Long Walk Hurdle repeat attempt on Crambo
Johnny Burke is hitting peak form in time for an important Saturday as he eyes back-to-back wins in the Howden Long Walk Hurdle on Crambo.
A 126-1 treble at Newbury on Wednesday means the jockey is fast approaching last season's total of 45 winners as he bids to consolidate a first full season as stable jockey to Fergal O'Brien, for whom he will join forces for two major mounts at the weekend.
"Winners are always great, especially building up to a big Grade 1 like on Saturday," the rider said. "Fergal has a whole new batch of young horses, so it’s all about building them towards the future. I’m loving it and it’s also great to be getting plenty of outside rides as well."
