Noel George expects General En Chef, his big hope for the £250,000 Coral Gold Cup, to "come there swinging" on Saturday as he bids to give France a first success in Newbury's prestigious handicap chase.

George, who trains in partnership with Amanda Zetterholm at Avilly Saint-Leonard near Chantilly, has already enjoyed big-race success in Britain with last season's Grade 1 Kauto Star Novices' Chase winner Il Est Francais and he is confident General En Chef is a bona fide Grade 1 horse running in a handicap.

Third in the Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris – France's Gold Cup – in May, General En Chef has been allotted a handicap mark of 148 by the British assessor, a rating off which George is confident he will be competitive.
