Greyhound trainer attacked at Crayford during pre-race parade

The pre-race parade for Wednesday’s 12.24 at Crayford was the scene of an assault on the parader of the trap one runner, Mythmaker, and was caught live on the SIS cameras.
The dog was being paraded by trainer James Turner when a blue-coated man appeared from out of camera-shot at the rear of the parade, ran past and then jumped on to Turner’s back before proceeding to kick and punch the clearly stunned handler.
The camera quickly panned away, and Entain’s Leo Walker yesterday strongly condemned the actions of the offender. “We’re shocked by what everyone witnessed, and the main thing is that James seems to be okay and we want to make sure he is okay,” he said.
“We immediately involved the authorities and it’s over to them to fully investigate now.
“After fleeing, we now believe the individual is in police custody. We’ll provide all the evidence we have and cooperate fully to ensure the authorities have the facts to take the right course of action.”
The race went off some five minutes late due to the incident and, ironically, was won by Mythmaker, with the track seeming to favour the inside runners as has been the case during the cold snap.
