Famous Bridge is set to lose his Grand National Trial win at Haydock after failing a drug test.

The nine-year-old will be disqualified after testing positive for a muscle relaxant that prevents horses from tying up, meaning connections will also be deprived of first-place prize-money of almost £57,000.

"Unfortunately we're going to lose the race," said Nicky Richards, who trains the chaser for Hemmings Racing. "His sample contained Dantrolene Sodium, which he's had for the last two and a bit seasons and which is commonly used across the whole industry. It's not a performance-enhancing drug.
