Giavellotto set for a break after Irish St Leger third as Marco Botti eyes international targets with stable star
Giavellotto has run his last race of a career-best season as trainer Marco Botti plans to give his stable star a break with a view to targets abroad in the new year.
The five-year-old was viewed as the main challenger to Kyprios in the market for Sunday’s Irish St Leger, having been sent off at 3-1 for the Classic after back-to-back Group 2 victories in the Yorkshire Cup and Princess of Wales's Stakes.
The son of Mastercraftsman finished three lengths behind Kyprios in third under Oisin Murphy and, when assessing his stayer’s first run in Ireland, Botti said: “He was a little bit on his toes going to post and just got a little bit warm.
