'Everyone has invested so much into him' - Shadwell's Angus Gold hails team effort behind Anmaat's Champion Stakes success

Angus Gold has spoken of the importance of horses like Anmaat to a slimmed-down Shadwell, with the longstanding racing manager saying successes in races like the Champion Stakes at Ascot help keep the operation "relevant".
Since the death of Hamdan Al Maktoum in 2021 his daughter Sheikha Hissa has overseen a downsized racing and breeding enterprise.
There were 132 winners from 630 runners in Britain in the year of Sheikh Hamdan's passing, but those numbers have dropped to 30 winners from 194 runners so far in 2024.
