What's on this week: entries for the Gold Cup, Champion Chase and Ryanair revealed before a weekend of Graded action
The weekly rundown of the moments and races not to miss in the next seven days
Monday
The winter weather has caused issues for meetings across Britain and Ireland over the past few days and Monday's card at Ludlow is the latest to be lost to waterlogging, while Ayr goes ahead after bringing forward its inspection.
Connections of Maghlaak will be delighted the meeting goes ahead as they bid for a hat-trick in the 2m handicap hurdle (3.10).
The sole evening fixture of the day is at Wolverhampton, and Desiderata seeks to follow up a 66-1 win on Saturday in the second division of the 1m4f handicap (8.30).
Tuesday
The Cheltenham Festival heats on Tuesday with entries for the Gold Cup, Champion Chase and Ryanair. A full entry list will be published at noon and Racing Post will be on hand to analyse the potential runners.
On a busy day away from the track, entries are also released for the Great Yorkshire Chase, Newbury's premier handicap hurdle on February 8 and its Goffs UK Spring Sale Bumper a month later.
On the track, after Leicester called off its Tuesday fixture 48 hours earlier, Hereford is the only jumps fixture of the day.
Martalite aims to bring his recent record to three wins from four starts in the 3m1½f novice handicap hurdle (2.25) under Nick Slatter, who is seeking his first win since October.
Treasure Fleet makes his debut on Tuesday evening for Godolphin in the 1m½f novice stakes (5.30) at Wolverhampton, where he becomes Charlie Appleby's second runner of the new year. Callum Sheppard, enjoying his third ride for the top trainer, is on board.
Wednesday
Paul Nicholls could send out his first runners of the week with five runners entered at Taunton on Wednesday.
Last-time-out winners Bond Breaker and Sorceleur could be among his runners, while elsewhere on the card Foxhunters' winner Famous Clermont is one the smart hunters entered in an open contest over an extended two miles and five furlongs (2.45).
The beautifully bred Fireblade, a full brother to Cracksman, will aim to get off the mark at the fifth attempt at Newcastle, where he is in the 1m4½f novice stakes (2.03).
All-weather action is also found at Kempton on Wednesday evening, where qualifiers for the London Sprint, Mile and Stayers' series take place.
Thursday
Ireland stages its first fixture of the week at Clonmel, headlined by the 2m½f Munster Hurdle (1.20).
The race was won last year by the Willie Mullins-trained Quai De Bourbon, who went on to finish third in the Martin Pipe behind Better Days Ahead, and Mullins has ten entered this year.
Khrisma, a Grade 3 winner in France, is an interesting new recruit for Nicky Henderson and JP McManus and could make her debut in the 2m½f maiden hurdle (1.45) at Newbury. The fixture also includes a £20,000 handicap (3.25).
At Catterick, Rowland Meyrick star Some Scope holds an entry in a 3m1½f handicap hurdle (2.40), where his official rating of 120 is kinder than his mark over fences. The afternoon card rounds off the jump meetings for the day alongside all-weather meetings at Lingfield and Chelmsford.
Friday
Huntingdon's 2m juvenile hurdle (1.55) has produced some smart types and Paul Nicholls, winner of the race last year, has an interesting newcomer in French recruit Sauvignon.
James Owen is a lethal force in juvenile races and could send the highly regarded Lavender Hill Mob out against Sauvignon, while Olly Murphy has a nice prospect in recent winner Fingle Bridge in the 2m novice hurdle (1.25).
More jump racing can be found at Doncaster, where promising novice Primoz could meet the consistent Beat Box, winner of six of his last seven starts, in a 2m½f novice handicap chase (1.35).
Raintown won three of his four starts on Lingfield's all-weather track and could aim to continue that fine record in the 1m4f handicap under Joe Leavy (2.55), while more all-weather cards take place at Newcastle and Dundalk.
Saturday
There is quality at all four jumps meetings on Saturday, including Grade 2 action at Kempton.
The London track stages the Coral Silviniaco Conti Chase (2.42), landed last year by subsequent King George winner Banbridge, while Frodon and Pic D'Orhy also feature on the winner's roster.
More Grade 2 racing takes place at Wetherby and Warwick, which stage the William Hill Towton Novices' Chase (2.02) and Trustatrader Hampton Novices' Chase (2.25) respectively. Among the winners of the novice contests were future stars Grey Dawning, Ahoy Senor and Blaklion.
At Fairyhouse, Willie Mullins will seek back-to-back wins in the Grade 3 SBK Dan & Joan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase (1.42) following success with Uncle Phil last year. Hunters Yarn and Ha D'Or are his two entries.
Newcastle opens its doors again for the all-weather alongside Wolverhampton.
Sunday
Kicking King, Vautor and Douvan are some of the classy winners of the Grade 2 Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle (1.30), which takes place at Punchestown on Sunday. The race is preceded by a 2m Grade 3 novice chase (1.00).
In Britain, the Chairman's Cup (3.15) is the feature chase at Kelso, which runs concurrently with an all-weather fixture at Lingfield.
