Deadline to nominate for the Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards closes on Tuesday evening
Tuesday provides one final chance to nominate a member of racing's workforce for the 2025 Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards (TIEA).
The deadline for nominations for the awards, which are sponsored by Godolphin, is 5pm on Tuesday and can be made online at thoroughbredawards.co.uk. There are six categories to choose from – newcomer, leadership, rider/racing groom, stud, dedication and community – with the winners of all bar the newcomer award being eligible for the Employee of the Year award.
All the winners will be honoured at a ceremony at York racecourse on February 24, with £128,500 in prize-money on offer.
Newsells Park Stud's Julian Dollar nominated the 2024 Employee of the Year David Porter-Mackrell and emphasised how much the awards means to racing's workforce.
Dollar said: “Personally, I think the TIEAs is one of the best things and I hope it's here for a long time to come. It just means so much to all the staff and the people that make racing happen, whether it is at the studs or the racing stables.
"It's something we're able to give back to the people that make this sport happen."
Last month it was announced that dual Olympic gold medallist Laura Collett MBE will be the guest of honour at the awards, which will be presented by Rishi Persad.
The awards will be judged by a 12-person panel, including broadcaster Nick Luck, former jockeys George Baker, Mark Bradburne and Mick Fitzgerald, National Association of Stable Staff chief executive George McGrath and 2023 Employee of the Year Sarah Guest.
Nominations for the awards are open until 5pm on Tuesday, November 5 and can be made online by visiting thoroughbredawards.co.uk.
