There will be no jump racing on Thursday after Newbury's meeting was abandoned at 8.15am on Wednesday. The temperature at the Berkshire venue is -3C with not enough time for improvement with the forecast.

Catterick and Clonmel were the other Thursday meetings to be called off.

There will also be no jump racing on Friday as Huntingdon joined Doncaster in abandoning on Wednesday morning. The areas of the home straight that had been flooded at Huntingdon have frozen on Tuesday night, with no chance of improvement before raceday.

Huntingdon's meeting was called off at 8.30am, 30 minutes before Doncaster's meeting was also abandoned 48 hours in advance of raceday due to the track being unracecable. An early call was made on the seven-race jumps card due to the track being frozen.

The temperature was -2C on Tuesday night and that is due to drop to -4C and -5C on Wednesday and Thursday night so there is no prospect of the frozen divots and waterlogged areas improving in time for raceday.

Taunton has survived its raceday inspection on Wednesday and the six-race card will go ahead. The meeting will be only the second jumps fixture staged this week after Leicester and Hereford were lost on Tuesday and Ludlow was abandoned on Monday.

The green light was given before the scheduled 7.30am inspection at the Somerset track where the going has changed from soft to soft, good to soft in places.

However, Wetherby's fixture on Saturday, which features the Grade 2 Towton Novices' Chase, must pass a 3.30pm inspection today due to current conditions and a cold overnight forecast.
