The cold snap could impact threatened Friday's jumping action but meetings at Catterick and Tipperary will go ahead . . .
Catterick
The North Yorkshire track's jumps meeting will go ahead after the course passed an inspection, which was brought forward from 8am.
Temperatures at the track only reached -1 on Thursday evening and the turf was deemed suitable for racing on Friday morning. The going is good, good to firm in places.
Clerk of the course Fiona Needham said on Thursday afternoon: "We haven't had much rain lately and the ground is on the quick side. We were forecast some rain and snow on Tuesday but we didn't get any. It's our first meeting of the season and we have great grass cover."
Tipperary
The seven-race card on Friday will go ahead after passing a 7.30am inspection.
IHRB Clerk of the Course, Lorcan Wyer said: "Following our inspection this morning, the track is fit for racing and the fixture scheduled for today goes ahead.
"There is a light dusting of snow still on the track but there is no frost on the ground. The forecast is a mix of sunny spells and wintery showers for this morning and then becoming largely dry this afternoon.
"The ground is now soft, yielding to soft in places."
