Bluestocking and Kyprios share the lead in Cartier Horse of The Year standings after Arc weekend success
Bluestocking and Kyprios have moved to the top of the Cartier Horse of The Year standings after their victories on Arc weekend at Longchamp.
The pair have amassed 152 points in Pattern races this year, with Bluestocking now leading the older horse category over top miler Charyn after her Arc success on Sunday.
Kyprios is clear in the stayer category and could earn more points in the standings if running in the Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot on Saturday week.
Makarova moved up to fourth in the sprinter category after winning the Abbaye on her final start on Sunday, with the runner-up Bradsell cementing his lead at the top of the division. Abbaye third Believing shares second place in the standings with July Cup winner Mill Stream and the pair could meet in the Champions Sprint at Ascot.
Derby, Eclipse and Juddmonte International winner City Of Troy remains clear in the three-year-old colt division, while Porta Fortuna extended her lead in the three-year-old filly category after winning the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown.
Camille Pissaro shares fourth with Shadow Of Light in the two-year-old category after his win in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere, with the runner-up Rashabar joint-second in the standings with Henri Matisse. The latter’s stablemate Whistlejacket tops the category.
Lake Victoria is another category-topper for Aidan O’Brien. She is top of the standings for the two-year-old fillies after winning the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket last month. Simmering, who finished fourth in the Prix Marcel Boussac, is her closest pursuer.
The awards, which are decided by a combination of points earned in Pattern races, the opinions of a panel of racing journalists and handicappers and votes from readers of Racing Post and The Daily Telegraph, will be presented at the Dorchester Hotel in London on November 20.
