Applications for 2025 Racing Media Academy open as sport works to increase diversity and inclusion
Applications for the Racing Media Academy, a programme launched to attempt to increase the diversity and inclusion in British racing’s media, are open for 2025.
Set up by Sky Sports Racing’s Josh Apiafi in 2021, the RMA aims to provide a clearer pathway for racing fans to land a role in the media regardless of their age, gender, sexual orientation, colour or background.
Following a week-long course at the British Racing School in Newmarket on May 4-11 next year, successful applicants will be offered a salaried work placement with one of the RMA’s media partners, including the Racing Post.
The academy's other partners are PA Media, Sky Sports Racing, Racing TV, ITV Racing, RaceTech, JSC Communications, Nick Luck, Ascot Racecourse, Arena Racing Company, The Jockey Club, Equine Productions, JockeyCam and Great British Racing.
Applicants must be aged 18 or over with the deadline for submissions to be sent to www.racingmediaacademy.com on December, 31.
Apiafi is delighted with the progress of the RMA, which is heading into its fourth year. He said: “I am exceptionally proud of every single one of their achievements and equally proud of the way the sport has supported the growth of the programme. It shows when racing decides to work together what can be achieved.
"I would like to welcome PA Media to our impressive roster of media partners. Their involvement, along with the ongoing support of the Supporter Network from Godolphin and Spotlight Media Group, ensures that the Racing Media Academy is set to continue strengthening the sport for many years to come."
