'We have lots of ammo' - George Boughey outlines key autumn targets for fillies
George Boughey has big-race autumn targets for his star fillies Mystery Angel and Oscula as he bids to end his excellent Flat season on a high.
The Newmarket trainer, who is in just his third season, has greatly improved his winning tally each year with 63 already in 2021 – more than tripling his career total – and is enjoying a red-hot run with six winners from just 14 runners since August 24.
Boughey is determined for that fine run to continue in the latter stages of the Flat turf season.
He said: "We had a great first third of the year, but you can't be flying all the time and I was very keen to have a good bunch of horses for the back-end.
"We've got plenty of unraced two-year-olds and winners to come back, we have lots of ammo for the rest of the season, which I'm really looking forward to."
Rising star: how Boughey has fared each season

Mystery Angel, who ran a mighty race in the Oaks to finish second behind Snowfall but has failed to win in five subsequent starts, is pencilled in for the Group 3 Princess Royal Stakes at Newmarket on September 24.
Boughey said: "She might go there after a short break. It would be great to get her back in the winner's circle before she probably sells at the mares' sale [Tattersalls December Mare Sale] at the end of the year.
"She's been to France several times this year and we probably took her back too soon last time [when last in the Prix de Pomone at Deauville]. She's in good shape and has been an absolute star for us this year."
Mystery Angel could have a final crack at picking up a top-level success for Boughey in the Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp on Arc day or the British Champions Fillies' and Mares Stakes.
"She's in the race on Champions Day and, although she has run almost exclusively on slow ground this year, I'm desperate to try to find some quicker ground for her," he said.
"Although she was second in the Oaks, for me her best performance was when skipped clear in the Pretty Polly Stakes on fast ground. If we get a dry autumn, one person will be very happy and that'll be me."
Oscula, like Mystery Angel owned by a Nick Bradley syndicate, is also set to be in action at Newmarket on September 24 in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes before a tilt at the Group 1 bet365 Fillies' Mile on Future Champions Day next month.
The trainer said: "She's been a massive servant for us this year but was probably a bit keen last time [when third in the Prix du Calvados]. She still ran a massive race. She's physically looking a lot better each week and I imagine she's a filly who'll do so again at three. There's lots of fun to be had with her."
