Bottoms up! Famous Cotswolds racing pub The Hollow Bottom to reopen in October
Famous Gloucestershire racing pub The Hollow Bottom is set to reopen in October to the delight of neighbouring trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies.
Only a small walk away from Twiston-Davies's Naunton base, the pub in Guiting Power has hosted many of the yard's big celebration parties including when Bindaree won the Grand National and Imperial Commander landed the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
The Hollow Bottom closed suddenly in July but is set to be added to the chain of The Lucky Onion after being purchased in September. The buyers are a hotel and country pub business in the Cotswolds.
Twiston-Davies, who used to part-own the pub with Peter Scudamore, said: "It's great news. We have celebrated all our big winners over the years, Grand Nationals and Gold Cups, so it's a very important place.
"We have a very good pub in the next door village so we have gone there but yes, we have missed it [The Hollow Bottom]. We look forward to returning."
The Lucky Onion group, owned by clothing brand Superdry's co-founder Julian Dunkerton and his wife Jade are the purchasers of the pub. They have a number of business in the Gloucestershire area.
Julian Dunkerton said: "It's our ongoing commitment to restore historic buildings in the Cotswolds and Cheltenham. Racing
is the heart of the local community as is The Hollow Bottom and we have gone above and beyond to ensure that locals and visitors are able to continue to celebrate both."
