'Lovely' Lostintranslation has Tizzard purring after Dipper victory

Colin Tizzard knows a smart three-mile chaser when he sees one and it is the type of horse he relishes training, but he may have to revisit his initial impressions of Lostintranslation, who overcame Defi Du Seuil in an enthralling run for home in the BetBright-backed Dipper.

Tizzard was beaming with delight after seeing the seven-year-old rally and deny the Philip Hobbs-trained second, who had looked to have assumed control two out.

However, runners from the Somerset stable are as game as they come and Lostintranslation stayed on best, earning quotes of 6-1 for the JLT Novices' Chase at the Cheltenham Festival with Paddy Power and Betfair.

That seems to be jockey Robbie Power's preference, which Tizzard is also warming to.

"He's just a beautiful chap," he said. "You see him there, he's a big horse as well and it was interesting listening to what Robbie was saying that he might be a JLT horse and not an RSA one. For me it looked like stamina had kicked in.

"I couldn't believe he got beat at Newbury first time when he jumped so immaculately but then we know who beat him [La Bague Au Roi], so the form stacks up."

A rematch with La Bague Au Roi, who won last week's Kauto Star Novices' Chase, at Leopardstown next month might be a plan – something that would please the Irish-based Power.

He said: "I've always had huge faith in his horse and think he's a very good horse. I think three miles might stretch him this season, but I think he'll get it in time. He'll have entries in the JLT and RSA and we'll keep our options. I wouldn't mind him coming to Leopardstown next – it'd be close for me and hopefully wherever he goes through the season I'll be able to ride him."

Tizzard is also a paid-up member of Lostintranslation's fan club.

"Hopefully he'll run in a Gold Cup one day because he's got pace, he stays and he jumps," he added. "He's got everything, but just has to improve about 30lb! It's lovely to win with him because he's a lovely creature. We've been blessed by Thistlecrack and Native River in recent years and he could be our next good one."

It was also lovely to soothe any doubts about the yard's health, especially as he had earlier revealed Ladbrokes Trophy winner Sizing Tennessee has been sidelined for the season through injury.

"Some of ours are a bit in and out, but Lostintranslation is obviously A1," Tizzard continued. "I'm not worried about it because if there were 50 people stood here there'd be five or six not very well, so we'll just carry on and if some get dirty noses we'll get it. Christ, if we stop we'll miss all of these winners!"
