Qipco British Champions Day preview: race-by-race schedule

This year's British Champions Day is set to be a cracker, with plenty of Flat racing's best horses on show. The highlight is the Qipco Champion Stakes (3.55), which features a thrilling three-way clash between Economics, Calandagan and Los Angeles. Star miler Charyn runs in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (3.15), while Juddmonte bid for another big win this month with Kalpana in the British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes (2.35). The popular Kinross goes again in the British Champions Sprint (1.55) and the best stayer around, Kyprios, starts the day with a bang in the Long Distance Cup (1.20).

Here are the races to watch out for on British Champions Day:

Saturday, October 19, 2024

With Sky Bet offering a total of £50 in British Champions Day free bets, there are plenty of options for you to bet on. Here's an idea:

  • Each-way odds for Doha in the Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes @16-1 with Sky Bet (each-way 1/5 odds, five places)

This race has thrown up a few surprises in the past and Doha could be really underestimated for this. The three-year-old has progressed through the ranks this year and already has course-winning form this season as she struck in the Sandringham Stakes over a mile at Royal Ascot in June. She didn't run a bad race when fourth in the Group 1 Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, but notably she was an easy winner of a Listed race on testing ground at Saint-Cloud this month. She steps up to 1m4f for the first time but she should thrive over this trip, given she has a terrific pedigree being by Sea The Stars and out of dual Arc heroine Treve.

Note, these odds are subject to change
