Ascot hoping to build on 'pleasing' number of overseas raiders at royal meeting

Ascot is determined to bolster the global appeal of its royal meeting by attracting even more top international competitors next season.

Travel restrictions impacted the number of overseas runners in the last two years but they were a feature this time and none impressed more than Australian sprinter Nature Strip, who could return in 2023 after landing the King's Stand Stakes on Tuesday for Chris Waller.

The trainer also brought over Home Affairs for the Platinum Jubilee, while the US and Japan were again represented by the likes of Campanelle, who dead-heated for third in Saturday's highlight with Australia's Artorius, and Shahryar, fourth in the Prince of Wales's Stakes.
