Apiafi appoints Moulson to push forward pathway for non-riders in racing
Josh Apiafi has further accelerated his efforts to increase diversity and inclusion in racing by appointing former senior Cheltenham racecourse executive Lee Moulson to develop plans to make non-riding jobs more attractive to a wider pool of the public.
Sky Sports Racing broadcaster and entrepreneur Apiafi will now work with Moulson to help bring to life his diversity pathway vision, a plan he revealed in a recent Racing Post interview.
The Rewards4Racing co-founder expects to present a strategy to industry stakeholders by the end of March.
Apiafi said: "The positive response and support from the Racing Post article from stakeholders in racing has been staggering. It has also instigated a plethora of contact from young people telling me about the struggles they have faced trying to enter the sport – each one passionate about racing but unable to unlock a door to access the industry in order to make their passion their career.
"We need to welcome Generation Z with every opportunity possible to join our workforce, ensuring a more diverse sport in the future."
Apiafi added: "I am delighted Lee has agreed to come onboard. It will assist significantly in the launch and speed of which we can set in motion the diversity initiatives I mentioned in my Racing Post article."
Moulson said: "I am thrilled to be working in partnership with Josh on such an exciting project for our sport. I am eager to see how we can use our experience to help bring this pathway to life and attract people from all communities and backgrounds."
