Alexandra Dunn and Philip Armson continue red-hot form with Fontwell double
Wednesday: Fontwell
Philip Armson cemented a lucrative team-up with Alexandra Dunn with a double to enhance the jockey's already impressive run of form this month.
The jockey-trainer partnership struck with 14-1 outsider Annie Nail, who broke her maiden with an unexpected 12-length success in the 2m3½f handicap chase.
The double was secured when Toad Of Toad Hall claimed the 3m2f handicap chase to give the 5lb claimer his 11th win of the season, matching his career-best tally from last term.
"She's been very good to me," Armson said of the partnership with Dunn. "It was here last month I got a phone call in the morning to ride Toad Of Toad Hall at bottom weight and I finished second on him, beaten a neck. He ran a cracker and ever since that we've just not looked back.
"It's been fantastic. It's just about being at the right place at the right time. I was in the right place when Mrs Dunn asked me to ride this fella last time and the ball has just been rolling."
The double continued a flying week for the 22-year-old, who has finished in the top three in ten of his last 12 starts.
It also signalled Dunn's fifth success this summer, putting the Somerset-based trainer just one shy of last year's total.
Four-timer
Another in a rich vein of form was Good News, who notched his fourth win on the bounce in the 3m2f handicap hurdle.
The ten-year-old is the sole runner for local trainer Lydia Richards over jumps this season and defied a 4lb rise for success two weeks ago to strike under Tom Cannon.
