'A ready-made future winner' - our analysts with five horses to keep tabs on

Second, Wolverhampton, Monday

Not best away on her racecourse debut, she gave herself plenty to do but came home very nicely to just grab second and her rider wasn’t hard on her by any means. A half-sister to two winners at up to 1m2f out of a smart half-sister to Glass Slippers, she looks a ready-made future winner which will certainly enhance her value given her breeding. Master Of The Seas
Second, Meydan, Thursday

Had been off since finishing fourth in the National Stakes at the Curragh in September, having reportedly suffered a setback, and pulled hard on this return. While that was not ideal, he ran well in the circumstances, beaten only by a smart, race-fit stablemate who set a muddling pace.

This horse will need to learn to relax if he is to really make it, but this race could have done him some good and he remains one to consider for the 2,000 Guineas, even if the bookies felt he should be pushed out to as high as 25-1 in places for Newmarket.

It is worth remembering his trainer Charlie Appleby ran Masar at Meydan at the start of his three-year-old season and the horse struggled, albeit on dirt, before really coming good back in Europe. [Ron Wood]

Fourth, Meydan, Thursday

Couldn't repeat his 2019 win in the Group 3 Nad Al Sheba Trophy but he was further back than ideal given how the race unfolded. Ispolini ran wide into the straight but he did pick up to go second in the closing stages before paying the price late on.

He was runner-up in the Dubai Gold Cup two years ago and if that race, held on March 27, looks like coming up weak he may be worth his place again. Otherwise, he is one to keep in mind for a return to Europe, as he is clearly back in some form. [Ron Wood]

Second, Chepstow, Thursday

A talented chaser having his first run over hurdles since finishing seventh in a Grade 3 handicap at Aintree on Grand National day in April 2018, he tried hard and ran his race, pulling nicely clear of the remainder in an event that was run to suit the winner.

He is currently 6lb lower over hurdles, but is possibly at his most effective over 2m4f (his top nine RPRs have come at around that trip). He's got several entries at next month's festival, both over hurdles and back over fences, and this should put him spot on for one of those.

Sixth, Lingfield, Saturday

Now back with her original stable, she was dropping back to 5f for the first time but didn't lack for speed and ran well for a long way. However, she was up against it in this company and will make more appeal in a handicap, especially against her own sex. [Steffan Edwards]
