2022 Royal Ascot tips: Wednesday's best bets from Racing Post experts
Day two of Royal Ascot is here – but who do our top tipsters fancy most?
Anchorage
By Paul Kealy
Race: 3.05 Ascot (Queen's Vase)
Odds: 15-2
He is the joint-second-highest-rated horse in the race alongside favourite Nahanni and everything about his return in a 1m2f Group 3 at the Curragh last month screamed stamina as he was outpaced in the straight but stayed on really strongly.
Going another four furlongs is obviously stepping into the unknown, but O'Brien has won the Queen's Vase on seven occasions. The fact he relies solely on this Curragh Cup and Irish St Leger entry, when he had a few other names at the five-day stage, also speaks volumes.
Legend Of Dubai
By Robbie Wilders
Race: 5.00 Ascot (Royal Hunt Cup)
Odds: 8-1
If pedigrees are anything to go by, Legend Of Dubai is chucked in off a mark of 96 in the Royal Hunt Cup as a Dubawi colt out of two-time Group 1 queen Speedy Boarding. Legend Of Dubai returned with an impressive Newmarket victory off a mark of 85 (RPR of 105) and stands out as a potential Group horse in the field.
Roger Varian landed a similar four-year-old handicap at York recently with Royal Champion for the same owner and that horse had a similar profile to Legend Of Dubai. He could be a plot job.
Bay Bridge
By Kevin Morley
Race: 3.40 Ascot (Prince of Wales's Stakes)
Odds: 11-8
Grand Glory and 2020 winner Lord North hold form claims, but it's likely both have peaked at the age of six and they might find it tough to contain improving four-year-old Bay Bridge, who put up a big performance when winning the Brigadier Gerard on his reappearance.
Japanese raider Shahryar has yet to win over this distance, but he has won over shorter and further, so he should cope and rates the main danger.
Wednesday at Royal Ascot:
2.30 Royal Ascot: Karl Burke: I really do think she has the potential to be a special filly
3.05 Royal Ascot: Can Nahanni recover from Derby horror show to give Appleby back-to-back wins?
3.40 Royal Ascot: Sir Michael Stoute has eyes on the prize as Bay Bridge faces toughest test yet
4.20 Royal Ascot: Will Mother Earth's course form prove decisive or is that too simple?
5.00 Royal Ascot: Trainer quotes and draw analysis for a red-hot Royal Hunt Cup
5.35 Royal Ascot: Are we dealing with a potential 'good thing' in the shape of Little Big Bear?
6.10 Royal Ascot: Could Royal Ascot's newest race break the rule for races over a mile?
