Tote World Pool tips: a 2,000 Guineas Trifecta in search of big dividends

Unlike the Placepot, in which punters can hedge on the draw in straight-course races, the Tote Trifecta usually demands that you pick a side. It is the high numbers for me in this year’s 2,000 Guineas. This is overwhelmingly because of form choice – although recent history also suggests high is the percentage call in the race, which forms part of the first of 17 World Pool days in Britain and Ireland this year.

Native Trail has to be in the mix, although it would pay better if he were to take minor honours so be sure to make this a combination bet. Checkandchallenge is taken as the ace-in-the-hole, as overpriced outsiders pay especially well on the Tote, while Frankie Dettori has the scope to make a tactical break on Point Lonsdale that could take his mount to the first three. Six bets will cover all combinations among them.
