Tom Collins looks to keep stakes to a minimum in Beverley Placepot perm

With small fields dominating the Placepot contests at Yarmouth and Sandown, it might be wise to cash in on an attractive-looking perm at Beverley, albeit five of the six legs are maiden or novice events.

There are obviously risks attached with a juvenile-heavy fixture, so keep stakes to a minimum, but there appear to be a number of bankable selections in the early portion of the card.

The first of those is Yorkshire Pirlo in division one of the 5f maiden (1.15). A precociously bred colt, Yorkshire Pirlo has an official rating of 76 after two narrow defeats to begin his career. He should make it third time lucky.

You could echo those sentiments about Lazyitis in division two (1.50), but she looks exposed and I'd rather take a chance on the promising Twice Adaay at a bigger price.

Topweight Zeyaadah will be the banker on the card for many in the 7f novice event (2.25), while Urban War is another that can give weight away in the following contest (3.00).

The trickiest race to assess is the 1m2f handicap (3.35), so it is wise to include three selections. Course-and-distance form is crucial at Beverley, so Regal Mirage, Bit Of A Quirke and Jupiter Road are all taken.

Cottam Lane should have no trouble hitting the frame in the closing leg (4.05), while well-bred newcomer Mashaan is also chosen in an attempt to double up.
