The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Saturday afternoon
GOOD THING
This son of Slade Power regularly caught the eye in defeat when he raced in Ireland last year, but he has clearly benefitted for the switch to Mick Appleby's Rutland base as proven by back-to-back career-best efforts. Boundless Power seemed to relish the drop to 5f at Nottingham last time and won with far more in hand than the two-length margin suggests. He achieved a RPR of 87 that day and looks very hard to beat off just 82 here with further improvement likely.
EYECATCHER
As always, the London Gold Cup is going to produce numerous subsequent winners and it may prove foolish trying to pick the best-handicapped horse in a field full of well-treated runners. However, I was really impressed with Bay Bridge's three-year-old reappearance victory at Newcastle and a glance back at his juvenile form suggests that he just competed in two extremely hot heats (ten individual winners have come out of those races). An opening mark of 90 underestimates his ability and hopefully he can prove that now switched to turf.
