This daughter of Ribchester was bred at Highclere Stud and sold to prolific owners Stonestreet Stables for 350,000gns at Tattersalls yearling sales last October. Brilliant US trainer Wesley Ward had her working lights out from early in her two-year-old season and she was all the rage at the beginning of the campaign. Ruthin justified her lofty reputation with an excellent six-length debut victory over Queen Mary fancy Artos, who has won since. A fast break and electric early pace saw her out in the clear after a furlong and despite wandering in the straight, she was never in danger of losing. Rerouted here from the Queen Mary, Ruthin is fancied to leave these rivals floundering.

Wordsworth is bred to win this race being a full-brother to 2018 scorer Kew Gardens, but he hasn't been missed in the market and it's best to find value elsewhere. That may come in the form of Kemari, a son of Dubawi who represents the in-form Charlie Appleby team. He ran with good promise when second to a useful type on debut over an inadequate 1m2f, before sluicing up at Yarmouth by a wide margin. Kemari passed the visual test that day and although this is a much harder assignment, he hinted that he has the ability to compete.
