Almighwar's defection from this year's Chester Cup throws the 2m2½f handicap wide open. One horse likely to capitalise is Coeur De Lion, who races off bottom weight and has the assistance of talented 3lb claimer Thore Hammer Hansen, who gets on well with the eight-year-old. The former Triumph Hurdle seventh has form figures of 21 (both in the Chester Plate over this course and distance) at this course and is just 3lb higher than when winning the Ascot Stakes at the royal meeting last June. Providing he gets a clean run from stall eight, he is likely to make his presence felt at a double-figure price.
