The Punt Acca: Robbie Wilders' three horse racing tips on Wednesday

Night Sparkle (2.40 Nottingham)

The 1m6f handicap at Nottingham is a trappy contest but I'll take a chance on Night Sparkle, who obliged on her first try at a staying trip when upped to 1m6f at Haydock last time and relished a return to front-running tactics. Night Sparkle has been raised 4lb but she is lightly raced and her pedigree (by Postponed out a a Grade 1 fourth in the US), gives hope she can rate higher still for the bang-in-form Simon and Ed Crisford team.

Salt Lake City (3.35 Navan)

The fact Seamie Heffernan rides newcomer Londoner in this mile maiden is a minor worry, but experience is a big advantage in these races and if Salt Lake City bounces back to the form of his debut effort he is the one to beat under Wayne Lordan. That day he ran second to subsequent National Stakes winner Al Riffa (had the benefit of a run), but my selection disappointed next time in the Convivial Maiden at York. I can forgive any juvenile a bad run on the Knavesmire, though, and Salt Lake City is taken to show his talent.

Plume Noire (4.10 Navan)

There wasn’t much encouragement from Plume Noire’s belated seasonal return at Punchestown three weeks ago, but the race was strong for the grade and she was attempting to defy top weight against race-fit opponents. A better effort can be expected from this lightly raced filly off a 1lb lower mark in this mile handicap and the booking of Colin Keane looks a statement of intent. Keane is 2-5 for a £10.50 level-stakes profit when riding for this yard.
