Ascot Placepot picks: Paul Kealy's perm for the £100k guaranteed pot on Friday

We've got a properly competitive card for the Tote's £100k Placepot at Ascot, with only one small field.

Those with hurdling form in the opening 2m3½f maiden (12.20) haven't shown much to be afraid of so I'd imagine the winner will be one who has run in bumpers or points, and those who appeal the most are and the unbeaten .

is a sporting suggestion against the two favourites in the 2m3f novices' chase (12.55) but I'll add one of them as it's a tight little heat. looked like he might belatedly live up to his juvenile promise when coasting home here last time, so he's the choice.

There are some nice types in the following 1m7½f hurdle (1.30), but they may have to go some to beat , who has been described by Paul Nicholls as a "proper horse", and has done well since recovering from an accident at home following last season's Ascot win.

The 2m5f handicap chase (2.05) will need some coverage, and my main fancy is joined by stablemate , who has a big chance if the headgear switch and wind op have worked. I'll also put in there, who may well have more to come this season.

is given a chance in the 3m handicap chase (2.40), but I'll add , who can normally be relied upon to run his race - if not put his head in front when it matters.

Finally in the 1m7½f handicap hurdle (3.15) I'll go for , who ran well on his return at Aintree and was a good second on this track last season, and , who is 5lb well in after his easy win in a conditionals' race last week.
