Sweetspots: River can find his flow on Southwell handicap debut
Altaira won a division of the Bath 4.00 last year and returns off a 3lb lower mark. He hasn’t run badly in a couple of starts this summer and his ability to handle this venue can prove crucial.
It’s no surprise that William Haggas does well at Lingfield, but his 42% (5-12) record with 3yo debutants is still eyecatching. Muneyra (4.45) is related to plenty of winners, three of which made the frame on debut.

Sam England does well with handicap debutants (29%) and Murchison River (Southwell 3.50) fits the bill. The four-year-old showed promise in maiden and novice hurdles over 2m and should appreciate an extra half mile.
