Paul Kealy reckons Kempton offers the best Placepot card

Credit: Edward Whitaker

Prospects for racing at Chepstow have improved, but better ground still makes the Placepot at Kempton more appealing.

In the opener (12.05) Bannister is the official form horse, but is likely to head to Chepstow for the Grade 1 Finale, and there's not much form to go on.

Richard Newland's and Tom Symonds' are the best Flat performers on show and at least one should make the frame.

In the next (12.35) Barbados Buck's has a 10lb penalty to contend with and that may make it hard, so , who will appreciate the stamina test, and are the choices.

Leg three (1.10) became tougher when Espoir De Romay came out, but Pistol Whipped goes well fresh and The Bay Birch is getting stupidly well treated.

(1.45) looks sure to appreciate slightly better ground than when third here over Christmas to two well-handicapped rivals, and Roccois the second choice here.

Only six go in the Relkeel (2.20) and I wouldn't be too keen on banking on McFabulous, who is shorter than he should be on form and needs to prove himself on softer ground than he has been running on.

The hurdles course is expected to prove far more tiring than the chase track and a better play could be to include course specialist Younevercallwith , who wasn't beaten far in the International last time, will be happier over this trip and is as consistent as they come.

Imperial Aurais most definitely the one to beat in the last (2.55) but would be a massive danger if back to last season's best.
