Newmarket Placepot picks: Paul Kealy provides his perm on Cambridgeshire day
It would be no surprise if there was a good newcomer in Newmarket's opener (1.15) – Saffron Beach won it on her debut last year – but for Placepot purposes the form horses are Stellar Queen and Oheka.
They were second and third behind a runaway winner on the July course last month, but Oheka was by far the most eyecatching and is strongly fancied to turn the tables on the runner-up. That should be enough to secure a top-three finish.
I'd be less confident about banking in the Royal Lodge Stakes (1.50), but one of the two form horses, Masekela or Royal Patronage, should hit the frame even if the once-raced Coroebus is as good as touted.
Sacred Bridge is the one to beat in the Cheveley Park Stakes (2.25), but her form has taken a knock or two and Sandrine, who probably should have won the Lowther and has no penalty this time, is a solid option.
She goes in with Flotus, who could well step up again now connections have figured out how she should be ridden.
Perfect Power does look rock-solid in the Middle Park Stakes (3.00), so we'll bank there as we need a few in the Cambridgeshire (3.40).
With watering having apparently evened things up on either side, I'll go for two on each wing, starting with the main selections Montather and Chichester on the far side.
I'll leave out the Gosden pair at the head of the market as Uncle Bryn doesn't look well-treated, while Magical Morning will be too popular under Frankie Dettori.
Instead, the other selections are Godolphin pair Long Tradition and Bedouin's Story, who have been running well in good races this summer and can go well at a price.
Unfortunately the finale is a maiden (4.15) with little form to go on, but we'll go with Thanks Monica, who shaped well on her debut, and the Roger Varian-trained Al Husn, who is well-bred.
