It would be madness not to think that size matters. Ten-year-olds win more than their fair share of veterans’ handicap chases and those who ran sixth or worse on their latest outing are profitable to back blind.

The logic is that they were probably taking on younger and better-handicapped rivals last time and Kim Muir also-ran BAND OF BLOOD will be a qualifier when he turns out quickly at Ascot on Sunday.

In recent years, four-year-olds have dominated the 7f handicap that opens Doncaster’s Sunday card, taking five of the last six renewals – it might have been six from six had Fiftyshadesofgrey not missed the break in 2015. Richard Fahey’s RIGHT ACTION could be the way to go this time.
