Mercian Prince can soon be ruling again

Blushing Red: should improve further if learning to relax

Trainer: Emma-Jane Bishop
5th, Warwick, November 9
Was bang in contention in this 2m4f handicap chase before a mistake down the back straight effectively ended his chance as he lost his position in a tightly packed field. Arquebusier then stuck to the task and made enough headway to suggest on this first run for 200 days he might have finished placed had his jumping been more fluent. Has slipped to a career-low chase mark.

Mercian Prince
Amy Murphy
6th, Aintree, November 10
A decent record in handicap chases with four wins from 13 starts, and showed up well for a long way on this return before fading when conceivably the lack of a recent run became an issue. The good ground may have been a bit quicker than ideal given his four wins have come on soft or slower. An encouraging first effort of the season and should be rewarding followers again before long.

Secret Investor
Paul Nicholls
2nd, Wincanton, November 10
Although this Grade 2 novice chase lacked strength in depth, there was a lot to like about this chasing debut. Secret Investor has run to a decent level over hurdles (winner of a Grade 2, best RPR of 146), but he is a pointing graduate and is regarded as a chaser in the making. Based on this effort he is going to fulfil that expectation. Ultimately he lacked the speed to stay with all-the-way winner Bags Groove, but Secret Investor should improve for a sterner test of stamina than this 2m4f contest posed.
