Wolverhampton Placepot picks: Richard Birch has three bankers as he eyes the £50,000 guaranteed pool

Lockwood, who qualified for a handicap mark of 55 following runs over 6f and 7f, steps up to 1m1½f in leg one (4.55).

The filly is bred to be better than her rating, and it would be no surprise if the extra distance provides the catalyst for a first success.

Target Man, a beaten 8-11 favourite on his Lingfield debut in April, returns from a layoff with strong claims in leg two (5.30), while Starshiba stands out at the weights in leg three (6.00).

Giorgio M, a model of consistency this year, arguably produced a career-best performance last time out when a running-on fourth behind Tanmawwy at Epsom.

A Wolverhampton winner in July, he ought to give another good account in leg four (6.30), with last-time-out Pontefract scorer Cloudy Skye providing solid back-up.

Chalk Mountain and Ultramarine look the two to focus on in leg five (7.00), while Help Me Rhonda catches the eye on her first start for James Fanshawe in leg six (7.30).

Grecian God should also run well.
