Windsor Placepot perm: Tom Segal attempts to crack the £50,000 guarantee

After a near-20-year absence, it's great to see jumps racing back at Windsor. Unsurprisingly, Nicky Henderson is well represented at one of his old stomping grounds and his Excello should win the opening race (12.12) of the Placepot.

The other races are more complicated, but The Famous Five looked a good chasing prospect last season and wasn't totally disgraced in a good race at Newbury on his return to action. He can make a winning start over fences in the Fitzdares Royal Windsor Novices' Limited Handicap Chase (12.45).

French import La Pinsonniere might have been found a weak race in the maiden hurdle (1.20), while everything makes some appeal in the staying chase (1.55), but Jeffery's Cross would be hard to beat if fully wound up after his absence. Gold Clermont, who is well handicapped on her best form, is also added.

Bellbird looks well treated on her recent Carlisle second in the mares' handicap hurdle (2.30) and has a good claimer taking 7lb off her back. Harry Cobden is an interesting booking for Asian Spice in the same race and with only seven declared, she is worth sticking in the perm too.

Promising novice Hasthing could be well treated in the handicap chase (3.05). He will enjoy the step up to 2m4f, having clearly found 2m too short on his comeback. He is inexperienced for a race of this nature, though, so Alto Alto goes in as well.
