Why this horse can win: free tips for all seven televised races on ITV on Saturday
Our Racing Post Weekender tipsters pick out their best bets for Saturday's ITV Racing action from Ascot and Haydock . . .
Iroko
1.50 Ascot: Howden Graduation Chase 2m5f
By Stuart Redding
James Du Berlais is the pick of a strong Irish contingent in this graduation chase but I fancy Iroko to keep the prize at home. The six-year old ran with credit in two Grade 1 contests at the end of last season and made an encouraging comeback at Haydock last month. He couldn’t quite reel in the more positively ridden Trelawne but pulled a long way clear of the also-rans.
Credo
2.05 Haydock: Betfred Tommy Whittle Handicap Chase 3m1½f
By Sam Hardy
Credo finished fifth in last season’s running, beaten just five lengths by Famous Bridge, and she comes into this year’s race on an 8lb lower mark of 125. I am willing to put a line through her latest start when trailing in last of four over this course and distance, but her record at Haydock is otherwise solid, having posted her two highest Racing Post Ratings at the track.

Kateira
2.25 Ascot: Howden Long Walk Hurdle 3m½f (Grade 1)
By James Hill
Kateira missed a penalty kick against her own sex at Doncaster last Saturday and is the most interesting entry in this year’s Long Walk. I’m pretty sure she would have beaten the boys in a Wetherby Grade 2 last month but for a juddering error two out. That effort suggested this longer trip is no problem, and the 7lb she receives here means she’s the most attractive alternative to the favourite Strong Leader, who is begging to be taken on.
Holloway Queen
2.40 Haydock: Betfred Hat-Trick Heaven Mares' Novices' Hurdle 2m3f (Listed)
By Stuart Redding
There are several decent prospects in this, with Holloway Queen probably the one to beat. She cost £180,000 after finishing runner-up in her sole point and made a successful start to her new career at Lingfield recently. She briefly hung when asked for an effort before showing a good turn of foot to come out on top. She has more to offer. La Marquise was an impressive winner at Ludlow.
Trelawne
3.00 Ascot: Howden Silver Cup Handicap Chase 3m
By James Hill
You are never quite sure what you’re going to get from Trelawne, but I thought his victory at Haydock last month was his best performance yet. He travelled sweetly, jumped well and saw off a challenger rated 8lb higher. He’s always looked a three-miler so hopefully the extra distance will suit. Victtorino needs to jump better than he did at Newbury last time, but he goes well at Ascot.
Our Champ
3.35 Ascot: Ladbrokes Handicap Hurdle 1m7½f
By Sam Hardy
It may be worth taking a chance with one at a price here and the progressive Our Champ catches the eye. He was a course-and-distance winner earlier in the season and runs off only a 7lb higher mark this time around. Alnilam was runner-up in a competitive handicap over course and distance last time and should be thereabouts again off just a 2lb higher mark.
